About us
Founded in 2022, Terra Ultra Silvam Archaeology is a cultural non-profit organisation based in Gherla (Cluj-Napoca, Romania) pursuing impactful objectives in archaeology, cultural heritage and related disciplines within and outside the Transylvanian community. Our name, Terra ultra silvam is a toponym meaning 'the land beyond the forest', used in medieval Latin documents dating back to the XI century AD to describe Transylvania. This historical region steeped in ancient traditions and characterised by a fascinating multi-cultural history, is our core area of interest and activity.
